7/8 Treble Chorus
This full-year music course emphasizes performance, voice building, and music reading in the context of an all female ensemble. Students are given the opportunity to compete in Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest, UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, and Six Flags or Sandy Lakes festivals at the end of the year. Students prepare choral music for performance at four concerts per year, sing in community venues such as Northpark Mall, and participate in the Shakespearean Feast. Students who take 7/8 Chorus should have already taken 6th grade choir.
A-Cappella Treble Chorus
This full-year music course is a premiere choir selected by audition; previous choral experience is required. Experience in a-cappella choir is highly recommended for students who desire to continue choir in high school. Emphasis is on performance of traditional choral music in three or four parts, voice building, and music reading. Students are given the opportunity to compete in Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest, UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, and Six Flags festivals at the end of the year. Students prepare choral music for performance at four concerts per year, sing in community venues such as basketball games and Northpark Mall, and participate in the Shakespearean Feast. Most students in the a-cappella choir will desire to audition for the All-Region choir.
Boys Chorus
This is a full-year music course which focuses on voice building, music reading in a male gender ensemble. No previous experience is required. Special attention is given to the male voice change through use of two and three part music. Members of the boys choir have the opportunity to participate in Regional Solo and Ensemble, Shakespearean Feast, Northpark Mall performance, and Six Flags festival at the end of the year. Boys choir participates in at least three concerts per year.
