Read for at least an hour this week. If you finish a great book, share it with us, and put it on the book wall!
Everything highlighted has been moved to next week.
Monday:
No school! Relax. Read. Enjoy your day.
Tuesday:
You need to have your To Kill a Mockingbird (TKAM) book here today. We will begin to use it to discuss writers craft and the plot. Be prepared to write in/highlight (annotate) your book.
Maycomb Mood Map- This document focuses on how to create mood through writing, we are going to break this down over the next week or so. Today you will primarily work on locatoins and events from the book. Later this week, you will look at the mood component.
Wednesday:
We will discuss mood and how it is created. We will look at it through our own reading, TKAM, and film clips. You will be crafting your own mood writing. An example will be posted soon.
Introducing your other homework: 30 min. of writing per week. You may add to something we began in class, or start something of your own. Your progress this year will not be as defined if you do not work on your craft at home.
Thursday:
Continue discussing mood. Begin to add it to your map using evidence from the book. This will include page numbers, and you will learn MLA format.
We will also begin to tamper with mood and look at how seemingly-small changes in our language create great differences in how it is read.
Friday:
Free Reading. Don't forget to have read for an hour this past week. The focus is on mood.
