Family and Consumer Science
Students will explore units on nutrition and food (USDA food pyramid compared to other pyramids, nutrition in depth), clothing (clothing repair, maintenance of clothing, machine project), family functions (life cycle, working together), child development (plant babies, development of children), and careers (what jobs are like in a variety of careers, how to keep a job, what to do if a job doesn't work for you). Students will enjoy this hands on course that will help them to better manage their future.
Skills for Living
Students will explore units on nutrition and food (USDA food pyramid, dietary guidelines, meal planning), clothing (care, choosing quality, simple clothing repairs, simple machine project), money and goal setting (management of resources), personal development (decision making, self-esteem), family and friends (communication, conflict resolution), and careers (qualities of good workers, occupational choices). Students will enjoy this hands on course that will enable them to manage their future lives.
